A chassis, by simple definition, is a supporting frame or structure, usually in reference to a vehicle. For an Airstream touring coach, the chassis refers to the entire vehicle that Airstream uses as the base to build upon.
For example, the Interstate line uses the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter 3500 Extended for the Interstate 24s and the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter 2500 for the Interstate 19.
The Atlas is built upon the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter 3500 Chassis Cab Chassis.
The RAM ProMaster® 3500 High Roof Extended chassis was chosen to be the foundation of the Rangeline touring coach.
Airstream chooses every safety and luxury feature available when acquiring a chassis, but further improvements are made to create a best-in-class product.
Depending on the model, upgraded wheels, windows, suspension systems, and insulation are added or changed to create the ultimate touring coach foundation.
