Traditionally, RVers use a snap-on, custom-made vinyl drape skirt that requires drilling holes into the RV or a DIY solution, often involving styrofoam boards and tape, bales of straw, or other solutions that reduce the mobility of the Airstream once it's set up. The inflatable design behind AirSkirts solves the shortcomings of other skirting solutions by inflating under your Silver Bullet and staying in place with air pressure all while being easy to uninstall so you can head to the next destination.
AirSkirts kits are compatible with all Airstream "Silver Bullet" travel trailers – stabilizer jacks, sewer drains, and stairs are no problem due to AirSkirts’ unique modular design. With excellent insulation performance, year-round use and flexibility, and ease of installation, Airskirts are the best Airstream skirting solution for those looking to extend their camping opportunities and save some energy costs along the way.
Are Airskirts fitted to my specific Airstream model?
Yes — each Airstream travel trailer model has been expertly measured and the kits are sized to fit. The skirt tubes are the basis of the system and extend around the perimeter of your Airstream floor plan. From 16' to 33', choose your exterior length from the drop-down selector when shopping. Your travel trailer exterior length can be found in your owner's manual or on the Specifications page on our website.
How long does it take to install Airskirts?
The installation process takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
What's included with each Airskirts kit?
Inside each kit is everything you need to get set up, including:
- AirSkirts Inflatable Skirt Tubes
- Carry and Storage Bag
- Electric AC Air Pump
- Welcome Kit
- Dual-axle Tire Covers (only included for dual-axle Airstreams)
Keep in mind, the entry stair pillow, tire wedges, and skylight insulators are not included with the kit and are sold as individual items.
What does the Airskirt do?
Airskirts form an insulating perimeter around the base of your Airstream, preventing energy from escaping. This insulation creates a cushion of warm or cold air under the RV which lowers energy costs and extends the opportunities for camping.
Can Airskirts also be used in the summer?
Yes — while primarily intended to be used to in the winter to extend camping stays, Airskirts can also be used in the heat of the summer to insulate the underside of the Airstream travel trailer. Because insulation works in both hot and cool environments, trapping air under the Airstream in the summer can reduce cooling costs.
Will I need to drill or attach the AirSkirt to my Airstream?
No — one of the many benefits of Airskirts is they expand from the ground to the bottom of the Airstream by inflating with air. By adding the proper amount of air to the tube(s), they will have enough pressure to stay in place without additional fixtures or attachments.
What do I do if the Airskirt gets a hole in it?
In the unlikely event of a puncture or hole, there's patch material included with the kit that can be used to repair the tube. There are also edge protectors included to help prevent punctures around sharp areas such as the stairs, hitch area, or stabilizer jacks.
