After your RV batteries have reached the end of their life, we highly recommend disposing of them properly. This usually involves taking them directly to a certified battery electronic recycling center or taking them back to the location you purchased them — such as your Airstream dealership.
What types of RV batteries can be recycled?
All RV battery types can be recycled.
Where can I take my RV batteries when they're dead?
After safely removing the battery terminal connections and withdrawing the batteries from your Airstream, you have the following options:
- The original purchase location (such as your Airstream dealership and/or service center)
- Automotive parts stores
- Use Google Maps, Apple Maps, Earth911, Call2Recycle, etc. to identify a battery recycling option near your location
Can I dispose my RV batteries in the garbage?
No. Do not place your batteries in your garbage. The critical materials inside of the batteries will not be recycled and there's a safety risk because they will likely not be handled correctly.
Is there anything I need to prepare before dropping the batteries off?
Before dropping the RV batteries off for recycling, we recommend getting in contact with your local service ahead of time to confirm drop-off and preparation instructions. Most recycling centers request the battery terminals be covered with non-conductive tape, the batteries to be placed in plastic bags, and labeling be applied for easy identification.
